Editorial standards
The shop could recommend a pen because it had sold a hundred of them. The journal has to be more formal than that, because a sentence on the internet travels further than a sentence over the counter.
Independence
Reviews and buying advice are not for sale. If a brand sends a pen, we say so. If a brand pays for a mention, the mention is labelled and any link carries rel="sponsored". Guest essays follow the same rule; see write for us.
Facts and corrections
Measurements, prices, and product names are checked against current Australian availability where we can. When we get something wrong, we correct the piece and note the date. Send corrections through the contact form.
Sources and voice
We write in Australian English. We prefer primary experience — using the pen, walking into the shop — over recycled American forum lore. When we lean on the Wayback Machine for the history of this house, we say so.
Images
Photographs on this site are Creative Commons or public domain, downloaded and hosted here, and credited on the page and on the image credits list. We do not scrape shop photography.
Search and links
Every navigational link is a real link. We do not hide sections behind buttons that only work with JavaScript. Descriptive anchor text is house style. Orphan pages are a failure of editing, not a strategy.
