The Burghley Journal (so named by kind permission of Burghley House) is a stunning refillable leather notebook with stitched detail and a popper clasp. It is made from sturdy Spanish bovine leather which has been vegetable tanned (more environmentally friendly), hand dyed, cut, sewn and polished by The Stamford Notebook Co in Stamford, England.
It has embossed detail, is a mid brown colour and comes complete with a 160 page book (page size 13.5x21cm) made using top quality British milled paper with ruled lines.
The Burghley beautifully reflects the heritage and quality of its namesake.
The Burghley Journal is supplied in a beautiful gift box.
Acknowledged as one of the most beautiful towns in England, Stamford is known to have been the scene of human activity for around 5000 years.
The visitor cannot fail to be impressed by the fine stone buildings with their locally quarried Collyweston stone slate roofs. If the cars could be removed from the streets the scene has remained unchanged for a couple of centuries.
And so the Stamford Notebook Company, an offshoot of the printing industry, making notebooks by hand, is adding to the long list of small enterprises that have kept the Town ticking over for centuries.
All Stamford Notebooks are handbound in Stamford, Britain, by true craftsmen using centuries old techniques and modern equipment (sort of, if you count their lovely old 1948 sewing machine as modern!)
They handmade the first Stamford Notebooks in October 2013. Their aim was to bind the best notebooks for writing and drawing using the best handwriting paper, leather and bookbinding cloth they could find.
