The Signature Edition follows on from the hugely popular Dime Novel Limited Edition. It’s an all new size of Field Notes (108mm × 165mm), a bit bigger than the original size but still small enough carry with you.
There are two versions: a 2-Pack of Sketch Books with blank pages and a French Paper grey/blue cover; and a 2-Pack of ruled Note Books with a cream/yellow coloured cover. The covers are gently debossed with just a tint of ink. They’ve used a brighter, whiter version of the same Strathmore Premium Wove stock for the 72 interior pages of both versions.
Each book comprises paper signatures section sewn together and then glued for strength.

The other book in the 2-Pack is a “Sketch Book” with blank pages. The covers feature glow in the dark ink.
Both books feature Neenah Royal Sundance Felt “Warm White” covers with four spot colors and a fifth-glow-in-the-dark ink, illuminating the flashlight beams. They’re PUR-bound (not stapled) with Domtar Cougar smooth 70# “Natural” text paper inside.

For the 10th Anniversary of Field Notes creator Aaron Draplin took a look back at some of the original incarnations of what would later become the Field Notes Brand you know and love today.
This nostalgia packed set of 3 notebooks all have 32 pages of graph paper, two staples and covers based on some old designs.
"Old Red" The red covered notebook was the first design to feature the Field Notes name and the Horizontal Futura font. The reproduction has matte white foil.
The second book is a reproduction of Aaron’s first ever run of Field Notes (200 books) that had been put together with scraps and cut down office graph paper. This reproductions interior graph paper has been made to look just like the original graph paper.
The last book in the 3 pack dates back to 2007 when Aaron teamed up with Coudal Partners to make the first test runs of Field Notes Brand notebooks for retail sale. The design is a little quirky and would later be refined.

Field Notes now offer larger Field Notes in their permanent collection. We’ll always argue that “kraft is the new black,” but why not have both? You’ll find that they match every outfit. Each pack contains 2 x 64-page memo books bound with gloss black staples. This set of larger notebooks feature a pitch black cover with your choice of grey dot grid or ruled paper inside. The new kraft inside covers add a hint of earthy charm to Pitch Black’s hip professionalism.

Field Notes’ 35th Quarterly Edition celebrates a chemical process we witness nearly every day, but rarely take the time to appreciate. Fire gives us heat and light. Fire can frighten and endanger us. With a bit of olive oil, it makes asparagus palatable. But in its most primal, elemental state, it inspires us to gather around and watch it while we share stories, ideas and friendship.
The body pages are white Finch Opaque 60#T ruled with 3/16" graph, each featuring a different ink color matched to the inside cover. The books are bound with gold staple wire.
Each 3 pack comes with a "Campfire Master" patch inspired by the merit badges a scout receives.

For this Expedition edition, the whole book is printed on Yupo Synthetic paper, an amazing water and tear-proof paper extruded from polypropylene pellets in Chesapeake, Virginia.
This “Expedition Edition” features a hi-visibility “Antarctic Survey Orange” front cover and “Polar Night Black” back cover, with a subtle varnish effect featuring a topographic map of Antarctica. The body pages feature our popular dot-graph paper, printed in light gray.
These are pretty close to invincible, at least by notebook standards, but waterproof paper is nonporous and doesn’t soak up ink like most paper. That’s good in some ways (no bleeding, feathering, or show-through), but it does limit the writing implements you can use. Regular ball-point pens and pencils work fine, but pens that lay down a lot of ink, like fountain pens, rollerballs, and markers, don’t dry as quickly, and may smudge and/or come off on the opposite page. Your “Expedition” 3-Pack is wrapped in a bellyband made of the same Yupo paper that’s in the books, so (after trying to tear it!) you can test your pens there and see what works best.
This 3 pack of notebooks can handle whatever you throw at it.
Bookbinders recommend the Fisher Space Pens which also write underwater, over grease, upside down and in extreme conditions as the perfect match to your Expedition Edition.

This reporter’s notebook carries on where the popular "Byline" limited edition ended. It’s sized perfectly for your hands making it easy to write in with one hand while holding it with the other. The cover protects the wire binding, so it doesn’t get caught on fabric or stuff in your backpack. It’s college-ruled for optimal page economy.
The diameter of the binding and the die-cut holes that the binding passes through are optimized for maximum “flippability.” And the handy pocket in the back cover makes for a thicker, more stable hand-held writing surface, and also gives you a place to stash a shred of evidence or a receipt for the cocktails you bought to ply a reluctant witness.
As Field Notes say "For years, people had been asking us to make a Reporter’s Notebook. So we did. Our Summer 2016 Byline Limited Edition was apparently exactly what people had hoped for. It was an instant classic, and quickly sold out. Then even more people wrote to ask us to make more Reporter’s Notebooks. So we did. Front Page is here, and will remain in production and in stock indefinitely."
… And fear not, all the useful text packed inside the “Byline” covers remains for “Front Page.”
Whether you’re rebuilding the engine in a 1959 Chevrolet or converting the home office into a nursery, any big project starts with careful planning. Step away from the power tools and collect your thoughts, specs, and calculations with the Field Notes Workshop Companion Set.
This 27th Quarterly Edition is a set of six books, boxed in a sturdy 60-pt custom slipcase with a sheet of crack-and-peel decals. The six covers are color-coded to compliment six tones of 100-lb cover stock from the French Paper Company’s terrific new “Kraft-Tone” paper, their first new grade in five years. The 70-lb text Kraft-Tone “Standard White Kraft” body pages feature our dot-graph, and are bound with tough brass staples. Anyone fixing a switch, planting a bush, or painting a door jamb will find these books make a nice addition to their workbench, junk drawer or toolbox.
