Travel: Things to do when visiting Brisbane

Travel & adventure have always formed a part of Bookbinders. We source products from all around the world with the goal of providing you the perfect tools to capture all your adventures.

Situated in Aspley on the main road heading north out of Brisbane is our Bookbinders store. There is plenty to see and experience when visiting our city so we decided to put together a must do list for the next time you are in town.

Southbank

Located on the south bank of the Brisbane River is this fun and vibrant precinct. Strolling along the river you will find beautiful parklands, the Wheel of Brisbane, Streets Beach swimming and play area, the Gallery of Modern Arts, State Library, Queensland Museum & Science Centre as well as over 90 cafes, restaurants and shops. You can even catch a ferry across the river.

Story Bridge climb

If you are feeling a little adventurous why not climb our Story Bridge. Opened in the 1940's it took over 5 years to construct. Today you can climb to the top of our iconic bridge for unrivaled views across our city.

Eat Street Markets

If you are a bit of a foodie you can head down to the Northshore district and check out our Eat Street food markets. With 180 shipping containers filled with unique vendors cooking up culinary delights and live music it makes for a great night out. After some food and drink you can wander down to the wharf and checkout the cruise ships that are docked.

Australia Zoo

Take the road out north from Brisbane (past our shop) through the beautiful Glass House mountains to the world famous Australia Zoo. Made famous by "The Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin the Irwin family still run the zoo today. They are committed to conservation and have a whole host of exciting experiences on offer. As well as crocodiles you will find Tasmanian Devils, Giraffes, Reptiles, Tigers, Wombats, Kangaroos, Koalas and much more. You can even get up close with a Rhino, walk a Tiger and hang with a Wombat.

Boggo Road Gaol

If you are feeling brave you can try one of the Brisbane Ghost Tours, we recommend the Boggo Road Gaol night tour. Hear tales from one of Australia's most notorious 20th century jails and keep an eye out for some paranormal activity.

Brisbane Powerhouse

The Powerhouse in New Farm is an iconic arts centre inside a renovated pre-war industrial power station. The red brick, industrial interior and gantry harp back to the days when Brisbane was a tram city. Now it's fitted out with stunning dining options and hosts a large range of theatre, comedy and arts shows. It's well worth checking out what's on during your stay in Brisbane.

The Bookbinders Store

Lastly why not pop in and visit our Aspley store. Located on the main road heading up the sunshine coast we have inks to test, demo notebooks to inspire you, stamps to use and plenty of stationery to browse and feel. We are more than happy to help and answer any questions you may have. Our address is 3/1355 Gympie Road, Aspley, QLD, 4034.
